Senior Systems Engineer – UAV Ground Control Station

About the role

The Senior Systems Engineer will lead the architecture, design, integration and lifecycle support of secure, mission-critical UAV Ground Control Station (GCS) systems. You will work across hardware, networking, RF communications, C2, telemetry and rugged computing, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead GCS system architecture, design and integration.
• Define system requirements, interfaces, ICDs, network topology and data flows.
• Integrate RF, SATCOM, LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, modems and UAV datalinks.
• Integrate computing, networking, power, HMI and ruggedized hardware.
• Conduct verification, validation, environmental, RF and EMI/EMC testing.
• Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, Systems, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 7–12+ years of experience in aerospace, defence, UAV/UAS, robotics or mission-critical systems.
• Strong background in GCS hardware architecture, embedded systems and system integration.

Required skills

• Experience with Ethernet/IP, CAN, UART, SPI communication interfaces.
• Integration of RF systems, SATCOM, UAV datalinks, antennas and communication equipment.
• Rugged computing platforms, power systems, operator consoles and HMI for mission-control.
• System verification, validation, debugging and field testing.
• Familiarity with requirements tools such as DOORS/Jama and MBSE concepts.
