Senior Technical Software Engineer - API Platform (Kong)

About the role

Emirates is looking for a Senior Technical Software Engineer for its API Platform (Kong) team in Dubai. The engineer is a fully participating member of an agile feature team that designs, implements and supports enterprise API platform capabilities and related infrastructure, focusing on secure, scalable and reliable API gateway solutions. The role also covers planning, estimation, development, deployment, release, hyper-care and operation of solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical design, development and deployment of complex solutions and carry out technical design reviews.
• Drive adoption of engineering practices, automation, test-driven development, agile practices and root cause analysis.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, evaluate problems and requirements, and drive proof-of-concepts and prototypes.
• Debug and fix complex issues, investigate alternatives and new technologies, and contribute to sprint planning.
• Mentor software engineers and ensure adherence to design and coding standards.
• Manage and maintain products, and use enterprise application platforms in line with the approved technology architecture.

Required profile

• Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in information technology.
• Strong experience building, operating and supporting enterprise-scale API platforms with Kong, including API design, gateway configuration, policy enforcement and production operations.
• Experience designing, developing and securing scalable RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and asynchronous, event-driven and message-based APIs.
• Experience with IaC, DevSecOps pipelines, and complex enterprise software using Domain-Driven Design and Test-Driven Development.
