Senior Technician - RM 2,3 E & A, Instrumentation (Steel Industry)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Technician to join our steel rolling mill operations in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on instrumentation and automation maintenance for Rolling Mills 2 and 3, ensuring reliable performance of critical process equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform shift‑based maintenance of field instruments, control systems, sensors, transmitters, switches, and control loops in RM 2 & 3.
• Troubleshoot and maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA, and associated automation hardware.
• Monitor and resolve instrumentation alarms, interlocks, trips, and process abnormalities.
• Inspect, calibrate, test, and replace defective instruments and control components.
• Support maintenance of drives, motors, MCCs, control panels, and related electrical & automation equipment.
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance according to schedule.
• Participate in breakdown response, planned shutdowns, commissioning, and improvement projects.
• Analyse recurring failures, conduct root‑cause analysis, and update documentation.
• Read and interpret instrumentation drawings, loop diagrams, electrical schematics, control logic, and P&IDs.
• Guide junior technicians and contract personnel during maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the steel industry, specifically in rolling mill instrumentation and automation.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• Proven ability to work shift patterns and respond quickly to breakdowns.
• Strong teamwork skills to coordinate with mechanical, electrical, production, and process teams.
