Senior Wayfinding Technical Designer

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Wayfinding Technical Designer to join its Dubai team, delivering high‑profile projects across the Middle East. The role involves leading the technical development of signage and wayfinding packages from concept through to construction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the creation and delivery of comprehensive signage and wayfinding technical packages, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Translate approved sign designs into detailed technical drawings, including dimensions, materials, finishes, fixing principles and illumination.
• Prepare and coordinate sign location plans, message schedules and coding, maintaining consistency across deliverables.
• Coordinate signage requirements with architecture, landscape, interiors, structural, MEP and lighting disciplines.
• Specify materials, finishes, fabrication methods and mounting solutions aligned with design intent.
• Review technical drawings for constructability, accessibility compliance and project standards.
• Provide technical support during tender and construction, reviewing shop drawings, samples and RFIs.
• Conduct site surveys, inspections and resolve technical issues to maintain design intent.
• Guide junior designers and ensure timely delivery of technical documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Architecture, Industrial Design, Product Design, Environmental Design or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in signage and wayfinding technical design or architectural detailing.
• Proven ability to manage technical documentation and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience with large‑scale master plans, urban developments or transport projects, preferably in the Middle East.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong experience with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
• Working knowledge of Revit and BIM coordination.
• Understanding of signage materials, fabrication techniques, fixing systems and illumination.
• Ability to interpret architectural, landscape, structural and MEP drawings.
