Service Delivery Network Engineer

About the role

Edara is looking for a Service Delivery Network engineer in Dubai to provide on-time support and troubleshooting for IP-based connectivity across its service delivery platforms and data centre networks. The role covers incident handling, vendor coordination, capacity planning support, preventive maintenance and disaster recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Handle daily trouble tickets according to operational policies and escalate issues to vendors within contracted SLAs, following up until resolved.
• Analyse performance reports proactively to prevent issues and review device configurations to remove incorrect or unnecessary settings.
• Meet with service owners to understand their problems and respond to their queries.
• Provision periodic and ad-hoc reports for the planning team to support capacity planning and upgrades of service delivery platforms and data centres.
• Update outage reasons (RFO) and follow up on recommendations to prevent recurrence of faults.
• Assist planning and acceptance teams in network node integrations, attend ATPs and ensure redundancy and symmetry.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation and diagrams of devices and solutions, and coordinate acceptance of network changes so the knowledge base is kept current.
• Perform periodic health checks, preventive maintenance and redundancy testing, and implement patches and updates to fix bugs and performance issues.
• Review vendor and network development documentation for new elements, monitor vendor performance and manage vendor relationships.
• Prepare and implement disaster recovery plans, release DR run-books, and approve change requests and maintainability operation procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor's degree in computer, electronic or electrical engineering, network engineering or IT (telecom equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a Service Delivery Network (data centre) for the telecommunications industry.
• Ability to handle multiple complex problems in a highly stressful environment, with strong customer focus, teamwork and communication skills.

Required skills

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP); CCIE preferred, or another industry certification in the data centre domain.
• Routing and switching Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols, and high-level protocols per OSI and TCP/IP.
• Cisco ACI, ASR, Citrix and F5 load balancers, Packet Flow Switches and TAPs; legacy platforms such as N7K, N5K, 7600, 6500, 3750, 2960.
• Knowledge of Juniper, Cisco, Huawei and Fortinet firewalls.
• Understanding of security infrastructure, BSS/OSS and mobile/fixed services, and of highly available computing environments.
