Service Engineer – Water Treatment Plants

About the role

Gradiant, a water and wastewater treatment company founded at MIT, is hiring a Service Engineer in Abu Dhabi. The role covers service activities for water and wastewater treatment machines and plants, including installation, commissioning, repair, reconditioning and inspections of RO systems, STPs and ETPs, and handling client service maintenance contracts. It involves direct contact with customers, sales and technical support, and travel to offshore and moderate-to-high risk countries.

Key responsibilities

• Perform annual maintenance contracts, after-sales service and inspections: liaise with clients, organise site visits with tools, spares and manpower, diagnose faults, estimate repair times, carry out repairs and calibration, and ensure HSE and documentation compliance.
• Prepare inspection reports with recommendations and parts lists, liaise with the engineering team on design changes, and keep regular contact with clients.
• Install, troubleshoot and commission Gradiant water maker systems on site, including on vessels, offshore and in high-risk countries; plan installations, complete them within budget and time, train clients and look for business opportunities.
• When not on site, assist production: help manufacture and assemble RO units, repair and recondition RO plant and components, and train workshop technicians.
• Manage customer relationships, follow service schedules, identify product and quality improvements, suggest new service offerings, and advise the sales team.
• Lead and supervise teams on missions, comply with HSE norms, and work in confined spaces, on ships and rigs; long hours may be required.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in electrical or instrumentation engineering.
• Minimum 6-8 years of post-qualification experience in RO, STP, filtration and ETP operation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting and field services.
• Experience in off-shore RO/WTP installation and commissioning, and in Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Yemen and similar regions.
• UAE driving licence is essential; Arabic and English spoken and understood.
• Customer-focused, self-driven, able to work and lead independently, with strong problem-solving and planning skills.
