Services Engineer - Steam Trap Inspection

About the role

TROUVAY & CAUVIN is looking for a Services Engineer to join its team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The engineer runs steam trap inspection and condition assessment programmes across refineries, petrochemical plants, gas processing facilities, LNG plants, offshore platforms and utility systems, improving steam system reliability, reducing energy losses, optimising condensate recovery and supporting plant safety and integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out steam trap surveys in live operating oil and gas facilities, including refineries, petrochemical and LNG plants, gas processing plants, utilities and boilers, onshore and offshore.
• Inspect steam traps with ultrasonic testing and infrared temperature measurement, and visually and operationally assess them, checking correct installation, sizing, orientation and suitability.
• Prepare technical survey reports, failure analysis reports, steam loss calculations, energy-saving estimates and repair or replacement recommendations, and update steam trap management databases and asset registers.
• Support reliability and integrity programmes, coordinate with operations, mechanical maintenance, reliability and energy management teams, assist during shutdowns and turnarounds, and recommend steam trap technologies for critical applications.
• Complete technical documents according to company procedures and report incidents and accidents to the QHSE Regional Manager.
• Support the VAC Supervisor and machinists in maintaining machinery and equipment used by the Valve Automation Division, and help with facility maintenance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in a similar position and industry.
• Ability to work independently at industrial sites and in a team environment.
• Excellent written and spoken English, attention to detail, organisational skills and customer-service orientation.
• Willingness to work flexibly and regularly on client sites, including offshore.

Required skills

• Knowledge of steam traps and steam accessories, their technical specifications, assembly and repair.
• Thorough knowledge of steam trap management.
• Knowledge of relevant API and ASME codes.
• Ability to write technical reports and present to managers, customers and colleagues.
