Sewer Construction Supervisor

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced professional to supervise the construction of gravity sewer pipelines and related infrastructure. The role involves ensuring compliance with design documents, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and delivering high‑quality work on time.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise construction of sewer pipelines, manholes, inspection chambers, house connections and associated structures, ensuring compliance with IFC drawings, specifications and authority requirements.
• Monitor excavation, shoring, dewatering, pipe laying, backfilling, compaction and reinstatement activities, and verify alignment, gradients and invert levels in coordination with the Survey Team.
• Review and provide technical input on shop drawings, RFIs, method statements and related submissions; oversee leakage, flow and CCTV testing, and ensure timely closure of defects.
• Coordinate sewer interfaces with roads, storm‑water, potable water, irrigation and other utilities, identifying and resolving construction constraints and utility clashes.
• Liaise with Resident Engineer, Contractor, Design Team, QA/QC Team, Surveyors, Inspectors, client representatives and authorities; lead and guide Sewer Inspectors and site supervision staff.
• Enforce HSE requirements for deep excavations, confined spaces, shoring, lifting and dewatering; manage inspections, testing approvals and authority clearances.
• Prepare progress reports, site records, inspection logs and verify as‑built drawings, testing records and project close‑out documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in infrastructure projects, with extensive experience in sewerage networks and utility works.
• Experience in the UAE/GCC and familiarity with TAQA Water Solutions standards is highly preferred.
• Strong coordination, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures and inspection requirements.
• Proficiency in reviewing technical drawings and engineering documents.
• Knowledge of utility coordination and multidisciplinary infrastructure interfaces.
• Experience with sewer network construction, testing, commissioning and authority approval processes.
