Sheet Metal Certifying Technician

About the role

The successful candidate will perform, oversee and certify structural maintenance on airline and third-party aircraft undergoing line or base maintenance. The role covers repairs and modifications, installation and replacement, inspections and defect rectification, while ensuring work is carried out in full compliance with approved standards, regulatory requirements and the airline's maintenance procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare for, perform and certify scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks according to task cards, approved data and regulatory standards.
• Oversee assigned technicians, resolve technical issues and give on-the-job guidance.
• Review task cards with the Engineer/Supervisor before starting work.
• Inspect and rectify defects using approved maintenance data.
• Record maintenance actions, test results, defect rectification and parts usage in the Maintenance Information system.
• Keep shop inventory available and compatible with operational needs.
• Maintain clear communication with engineers, technicians and operational teams.
• Enforce safety regulations, maintenance procedures and human factors principles.
• Keep the workplace clean and organised, control resource use and minimise waste.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Structural/Airframe) or equivalent technical discipline.
• 4 years' experience maintaining aircraft structures and structural parts, preferably Airbus type.
• Company-issued Certifying Authorization for aircraft structure, or related training with demonstrated skills proficiency.
• Able to work in rostered shifts, including confined spaces and outdoor environments.

Required skills

• Fabrication, inspection and task documentation.
• Knowledge of aircraft airframe systems, repair techniques and regulatory requirements.
• Computer literacy for maintenance information systems.
• Attention to detail, compliance and safety awareness.
