Shift Electrical Technician (Steel Industry)

About the role

The Shift Electrical Technician will support the electrical maintenance of a highly automated steel melting and billet casting plant in Abu Dhabi. Working on a rotating shift, you will ensure plant reliability, safety compliance and timely resolution of equipment issues.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute electrical maintenance tasks following safety rules, risk assessments and work procedures.
• Perform condition‑monitoring, diagnose complex equipment failures and drive preventive actions.
• Analyse daily shift activities with the supervisor to develop action plans that minimise line stoppages.
• Supervise, guide and train new team members to maintain service standards.
• Provide technical input for major maintenance problems to reduce downtime.
• Assist in spare‑parts management and ensure accurate inventory control.
• Coordinate with production personnel to schedule machine shutdowns and gather feedback.
• Enter detailed job information into the CMMS to track performance trends.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Engineering (or Trade Certificate) with 5‑8 years of electrical maintenance experience in a steel plant, preferably in melting and billet casting.
• Proven experience in the Middle‑East, familiar with local regulations and climatic conditions.
• Strong health and safety compliance background.
• Ability to work on shift patterns and collaborate with production teams.
