Slot Game Designer – Online Gaming

About the role

Nexus is looking for an experienced Slot Game Designer to join our Nucleo team and take ownership of online slot games from concept through to release. You'll shape game mechanics, bonus features, rules and player experience, turning ideas into clear, production‑ready designs while working closely with development, QA, art and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop original slot concepts with clear themes, mechanics, reel layouts, symbols, paylines or ways‑to‑win systems.
• Design features such as wilds, scatters, free spins, multipliers, cascading reels, expanding symbols and hold‑and‑win mechanics, specifying triggers and interactions.
• Create and maintain detailed Game Design Documents, including mechanics, feature flows, acceptance criteria, and player‑facing rules.
• Define pacing, presentation, and reward celebrations for base gameplay and bonus rounds, collaborating with art, animation, VFX, audio and UI/UX teams.
• Support production by clarifying requirements, reviewing prototypes and builds, working with QA to resolve inconsistencies, and ensuring the final game matches the approved design before release.

Required profile

• 5 to 8 years of professional game‑design experience, with substantial hands‑on experience designing online slot games.
• Proven ability to own mechanics, documentation and implementation decisions and to work independently while collaborating across functions.
• Strong practical understanding of slot mechanics, RTP, volatility, hit frequency and win distribution, and ability to interpret simulation outputs.
• Experience producing production‑ready GDDs, reviewing builds with development and QA, and delivering titles from concept to commercial release.
