Social Worker - Student Support

About the role

Liwa International School in Al Mushrif, Abu Dhabi is looking for a Social Worker to provide social, emotional and behavioural support to students. The role works closely with parents, teachers and school leadership to promote student welfare and positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide social, emotional and behavioural support to students in line with school policies and procedures.
• Assess student needs and develop appropriate intervention and support plans.
• Support students facing personal, family, social or academic challenges affecting their wellbeing and learning.
• Deliver counselling, guidance and referral services where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date student records and case documentation.
• Monitor attendance, behaviour and welfare concerns and intervene promptly when needed.
• Coordinate with external agencies and community services to support students and families.
• Run awareness programmes and workshops on student wellbeing, safeguarding and personal development.
• Support safeguarding and child protection procedures in line with ADEK requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (QFE Level 7) in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counselling or a related field.
• Diploma in Counselling (DCD) licence.
• Professional qualification in Social Work or a related discipline preferred.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in social work, student welfare, counselling or a school-based support role.
• Strong knowledge of child development, safeguarding and student wellbeing practices.

• Excellent communication, counselling and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff and external agencies.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to keep confidential records.
