Sociology Faculty Member

About the role

City University Ajman is seeking an experienced Sociology Faculty Member to join its faculty team. The post holder facilitates student learning, delivers instruction and evaluates performance across assigned classes, and contributes to curriculum development, program assessment and academic policy.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver effective instruction and evaluate students according to standard course outlines.
• Develop course curriculum, handouts, lectures, discussions and presentations.
• Take part in program-level assessment: articulate learning outcomes, administer measures, evaluate performance and suggest improvements.
• Propose and implement policies that strengthen academic development and research, and collaborate with faculty and administrators on curriculum, standards and textbook selection.
• Schedule, supervise, examine and evaluate students in internship, observation and field experience settings.
• Work with the Dean to align Course Learning Outcomes with Program Learning Outcomes and serve on the Program Assessment committee.
• Maintain accurate student records, submit grades on time and follow audit, quality assurance and risk management procedures.
• Keep office hours available to students and coordinate with the Dean on research projects and community engagement.
• Take part in faculty evaluation, community service projects and professional development, and attend conferences and continuing education.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Sociology or a related field.
• Experience in sociology research or teaching.
• Demonstrated expertise in sociological theories, methods and applications.
• Desirable: experience with curriculum development, assessment and policy implementation.
