Software Engineer - AI Training (Remote Contract)

About the role

Alignerr is hiring a Software Engineer to help train AI systems that generate and understand code. You will write solutions, review AI-generated code and give expert feedback so that AI coding assistants become smarter, safer and more reliable. This is a fully remote, flexible hourly contract, 10-40 hours per week, with no fixed location.

Key responsibilities

• Write, debug and optimise code across a range of languages, frameworks and problem domains.
• Review and evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, efficiency, readability and best practices.
• Identify bugs, logic errors, security issues and performance bottlenecks in AI outputs.
• Provide structured, detailed feedback explaining why code works or does not.
• Design coding prompts and edge-case scenarios to stress-test AI capabilities.
• Compare and rank multiple AI-generated solutions by engineering quality.
• Work independently and asynchronously, on your own schedule.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Able to read, write and reason about code clearly and precisely.
• Clear written communicator who can explain technical decisions in plain language.
• Self-motivated and reliable when working alone without supervision.

Required skills

• Proficiency in one or more languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Go or TypeScript.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and software design principles.
• Nice to have: experience across multiple stacks, familiarity with AI/ML, LLMs or prompt engineering, code review or mentoring background, cloud, DevOps or distributed systems experience, and competitive programming or open-source contributions.
