Software Support Engineer (POS)

About the role

Careers International is looking for a Software Support Engineer to support and improve its POS software solutions. The role contributes to technical solution design and software development for new and existing POS solutions, and acts as a subject matter expert in system configuration, configuration management, system testing and production implementation of POS and related systems.

Key responsibilities

• Build .NET Core back-end applications using ASP.NET Core MVC, RESTful APIs and Entity Framework
• Develop APIs and integrations from requirements using agile methodology
• Provide L1 and L2 support for cloud applications, troubleshooting and writing test scripts
• Collaborate with internal teams and escalate complex issues to Level 3 support
• Respond promptly to service issues and customer requests by phone, email or chat
• Design UI for POS systems and self-service kiosks
• Test, implement and roll out new POS systems and support all release phases
• Provide technical support for POS hardware
• Keep up with POS, external systems and tools used by the POS team and helpdesk
• Run quality assurance tests, manually and with automated tools

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in .NET and C#
• Good knowledge of POS or self-check-out systems is an added advantage

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of REST/SOAP/JSON APIs and XML
• Experience with Java, JavaScript, CSS3 and HTML5
• Strong SQL knowledge
• Knowledge of remote access tools, external systems and payment gateways
• Ability to learn and experiment with new POS-related technologies
