Sommelier – Luxury Hotel in Abu Dhabi

About the role

The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal is seeking an experienced Sommelier to elevate the wine experience for our guests. You will work closely with the Food & Beverage team to curate wine selections, provide expert pairing advice, and ensure flawless service in a luxury hotel environment.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with guests to answer questions about wine origin, vintage, and style.
• Create, update, and maintain the wine list, ensuring a balanced and appealing portfolio.
• Recommend wine pairings that complement menu items and enhance the dining experience.
• Attend wine tastings, develop vendor relationships, and request new wines and products.
• Design and implement wine promotions and incentive programs.
• Monitor and replenish wine cellar inventory, equipment, and glassware; conduct vintage and BIN checks.
• Perform opening and closing duties, including inventory counts, storage inspections, and safety checks.
• Serve wine and champagne, secure liquor storage, and adhere to all local alcohol service regulations.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance coaching of wine service staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Sommelier or wine steward in a fine‑dining or luxury hotel setting.
• Strong knowledge of global wine regions, vintages, and pairing principles.
• Excellent communication and guest service skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with kitchen, service, and management teams.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lb throughout the shift.
