Sous Chef – Ginger Moon

About the role

The Sous Chef at Ginger Moon, a restaurant within W Hotels in Dubai, supports the kitchen team by preparing and cooking a variety of dishes while maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients – portion, chop, store, wash, peel, weigh, measure and mix foods according to recipes.
• Cook and assemble hot and cold dishes, operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers, and test foods for proper doneness.
• Monitor food quality, maintain temperature controls, and ensure compliance with hygiene and safety procedures.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve portions, and clean and disinfect kitchen areas, tools and equipment.
• Follow company policies, report safety issues, maintain a professional appearance and support teamwork.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least one year of relevant kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific license or certification needed.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Food preparation techniques such as portioning, chopping and measuring.
• Cooking according to recipes while maintaining quality and presentation standards.
