Specialist Endocrinology Physician

About the role

The Specialist Endocrinology Physician shares the Consultant's responsibility for delivering high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centred care and is expected to exemplify clinical excellence within the Division. The post holder also contributes to the supervision and training of junior medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the division's medical coverage and attend divisional meetings as invited
• Take part in performance management, peer review, productivity and utilization reviews, and report on untoward incidents
• Diagnose and treat patients under the Consultant's supervision, lead ward rounds and regularly reassess inpatients and outpatients
• Document clinical information accurately and promptly, liaise with other specialties and support services, and take part in multi-disciplinary meetings
• Prepare patients for procedures, obtain informed consent and accept clinically appropriate referrals from emergency, primary care, other departments, walk-in patients and other hospitals
• Provide out-of-hours on-call coverage on rotation, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays
• Communicate clinical information to patients and their families with consent, and promote a team-based approach to care
• Support quality improvement, regular audit and the reporting and investigation of untoward incidents
• Promote clinical research and publication, and supervise and instruct junior medical staff

Required profile

• Tier 1: no additional experience after board certification
• Tier 2: at least 2 years of clinical experience after qualification in an internationally accredited institute
• Tier 3: at least 3 years of clinical experience as a Specialist after qualification in an internationally accredited institute
• UAE nationals: no additional experience after board certification
• UAE and non-UAE nationals enrolled in HAAD-accredited residency programmes: no experience required after board certification
