Specialist HSE Technical Engineer

About the role

The Specialist HSE Technical Engineer will provide technical health, safety and environment (HSE) expertise during the Front‑End Engineering Design (FEED) phase of offshore oil & gas projects for KBR’s PMC team in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures that HSE considerations are fully integrated into design, reducing risk throughout construction, installation and operation.

Key responsibilities

• Embed HSE requirements into FEED deliverables and engineering designs.
• Participate in design reviews to verify compliance with company, client and regulatory HSE standards.
• Apply Inherently Safer Design (ISD) and ALARP principles to layout safety, equipment spacing, escape routes and fire protection systems.
• Lead or support HAZID, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, QRA and SIMOPS studies.
• Review process safety documentation and ensure risk mitigation measures are incorporated.
• Ensure alignment with international standards such as ADNOC, Aramco, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, API, NFPA, IEC and OSHA.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities to obtain design approvals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HSE engineering for offshore oil & gas projects, preferably during the FEED stage.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and client‑specific standards (e.g., ADNOC, Aramco).
• Ability to conduct and document structured HSE risk studies.
