Specialist – Neonatology

About the role

The Specialist – Neonatology will deliver high‑quality clinical care to newborns in the NICU and nursery, ensure compliance with governance standards, maintain accurate medical records, and pursue continuous professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional, ethical, and efficient clinical services to neonatal patients.
• Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care.
• Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality‑management standards.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical records.
• Support continuous professional development for self and colleagues.
• Conduct patient assessment and reassessment, daily rounds, and perform examinations in the NICU and nursery.
• Order laboratory and radiological investigations, determine diagnoses, prescribe medications, and advise nursing and dietary care.
• Provide in‑patient care for newborns and attend difficult deliveries or cesarean sections.
• Offer consultative and referral services to other medical services.
• Provide on‑call emergency coverage for neonatal emergencies.
• Participate in departmental committees, quality‑assurance programs, guideline development, and training activities.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialization in pediatrics or neonatology and appropriate board certification.
• Registration with the relevant health authority and experience working in a NICU setting.
• Commitment to ethical practice and high standards of patient care.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and engage in continuous learning.
