Specialist Ophthalmologist – Clinical & Surgical Role

About the role

Healthpoint, a multi‑specialty hospital in Abu Dhabi, is seeking a Specialist Ophthalmologist to join its multidisciplinary team. The role involves delivering comprehensive eye care in both outpatient and surgical settings, focusing on accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and high‑quality patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of anterior and posterior segment eye conditions.
• Conduct thorough eye examinations and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Perform ophthalmic surgical procedures, including cataract surgery, within granted clinical privileges.
• Oversee pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative patient care.
• Provide medical and surgical management for cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, and related conditions.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment and imaging technologies for precise assessment.
• Collaborate with optometrists, primary care physicians, and other specialists to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuing medical education.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with a recognized Ophthalmology residency.
• Specialist qualification in Ophthalmology from an accredited institution.
• Valid DOH license/eligibility as a Specialist Ophthalmologist.
• Proven experience in both medical and surgical ophthalmology.
• Strong operative skills with the ability to perform surgeries independently.
• Essential experience in cataract surgery; additional subspecialty expertise is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities.
