Specialist Ophthalmology

About the role

The Specialist Ophthalmology position provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care services. The professional will diagnose, treat and manage a wide range of eye diseases and disorders while ensuring patient care meets DOH regulations, hospital policies and international clinical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations using specialized ophthalmic equipment.
• Diagnose and manage disorders affecting the eyes and visual system.
• Treat conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, dry eye disease, refractive errors, corneal diseases, retinal disorders, ocular trauma, conjunctivitis and other eye infections.
• Prescribe medications, corrective lenses and individualized treatment plans.
• Perform ophthalmic surgical procedures within approved clinical privileges.
• Manage emergency ophthalmology cases and provide pre‑operative and post‑operative care.
• Refer patients to other specialties when required.

Required profile

• Qualified ophthalmologist with appropriate licensing.
• Ability to manage both routine and emergency eye care cases.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality patient care in line with regulatory standards.
