Staff Nurse – Dialysis

About the role

The Staff Nurse – Dialysis provides patient‑centered care in the dialysis unit, performing assessments, managing treatments and ensuring safety for individuals with renal conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct blood tests using the Hemocue device to measure haemoglobin levels.
• Analyze urine samples for abnormalities.
• Administer medications and intervene in severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis.
• Insert vascular access needles into arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) and grafts (AVG) for hemodialysis.
• Initiate and perform hemodialysis sessions according to hospital protocols.
• Maintain and care for hemodialysis catheters to prevent infections.
• Monitor vital signs and fluid balance during treatment.
• Clean and disinfect hemodialysis machines and equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (or equivalent) and registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Valid nursing license/registration in home country or last place of employment.
• Minimum two years recent post‑graduate experience in nephrology nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

Required skills

• Operation of the Hemocue device for blood testing.
• Vascular access needle insertion for AVF and AVG.
• Hemodialysis machine operation and treatment delivery.
• Hemodialysis catheter care and infection prevention.
• Vital sign and fluid balance monitoring.
