Staff Nurse – Pediatrics Ward

About the role

The Staff Nurse will provide age‑appropriate care to paediatric patients in the Ghayathi Hospital ward, ensuring safety, quality and compassionate service in line with Abu Dhabi health regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care according to hospital policies and the nursing scope of practice.
• Supervise and mentor practical nurses, midwives, junior staff and student nurses, acting as a preceptor when required.
• Coordinate individualized care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning.
• Administer medications safely, monitor patient responses and report adverse drug reactions.
• Respond to emergencies and provide basic life support as per organisational procedures.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records and ensure compliance with documentation standards.
• Participate in quality‑improvement projects, risk management and infection‑control activities.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion, medication use and post‑discharge care.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience post‑qualification in a relevant setting (experience waived for UAE nursing graduates after internship).
• Registered nurse licensed to practice in Abu Dhabi/UAE and familiar with the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct.
• Strong critical‑thinking, problem‑solving and conflict‑management abilities.
• Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality and interdisciplinary teamwork.

Required skills

• Medication administration in accordance with Ministry of Health and HAAD narcotic policies.
• Proficient use of electronic medical record systems for documentation and communication.
• Clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills.
• Emergency response and basic life‑support competencies.
