Steward – Hospitality & Galley Management on Board

About the role

The Steward ensures a high standard of hospitality, cleanliness, and food service aboard the vessel. Working closely with the cook and senior officers, the role combines food preparation, sanitation, and safety responsibilities in a fast‑paced maritime environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the cook with daily operations and preparation of all meals.
• Maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards in the galley and related areas.
• Clean and disinfect food service equipment, preparation areas, and drink dispensers after each use.
• Wipe down mess decks, galley overheads, and bulkheads with approved cleaning solutions.
• Monitor and report any signs of pest infestation or contamination.
• Follow company HSE and quality policies, and adhere to fire, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Perform general cleaning tasks and ensure the galley and storerooms remain sanitary.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in hospitality, galley, or similar maritime roles.
• Technical School Certificate or equivalent professional qualification.
• STCW Basic Training, Fire Fighting & Safety Training, and other sea‑survival certifications.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
