Store Assistant

About the role

The Store Assistant is responsible for managing the flow of materials on the shop floor, ensuring accurate inventory records and supporting the production team with timely material issuance. This role requires strict adherence to health, safety and environmental standards while maintaining a clean and efficient store environment.

Key responsibilities

• Count, inspect and document all incoming and outgoing goods.
• Issue materials to the shop floor promptly and record all transactions in the ERP system.
• Participate in monthly stock takes and maintain 100% inventory accuracy between physical stock and ERP records.
• Monitor stock levels, submit consumable ordering requests and prevent shortages.
• Promote paper‑saving practices and ensure routine daily tasks are completed.
• Follow all Quality, H&S and Environmental procedures and report any unsafe conditions.
• Operate emergency equipment, fire alarms and fire extinguishers as required.

Required profile

• Commitment to health and safety policies and willingness to report incidents.
• Ability to handle heavy materials safely, including copper conductors up to 230 mm × 4 m.
• Willingness to wear appropriate PPE and follow dress‑code rules on the shop floor.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and the purchasing department.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using an ERP system for inventory management.
• Overhead crane operation certification or experience.
• Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and safe handling of chemicals.
• Experience with heavy‑material handling and use of trolleys and tables.
• Familiarity with emergency equipment operation and fire safety procedures.
