Store Optometrist

About the role

A qualified, customer-focused Store Optometrist is sought to carry out professional eye examinations, diagnose refractive conditions, recommend optical solutions and support retail sales within the store.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and review customer history to identify vision needs.
• Prescribe and recommend lenses, including spectacle lenses, contact lenses, specialty lenses and disposables.
• Perform pre- and post-fitting quality checks and re-examine customers where needed.
• Educate customers on product use, lens options, promotions and offers.
• Support sales of spectacle lenses, contact lenses and powered sunglasses, contributing to sales targets, conversion and AUPC performance.
• Maintain accurate customer and examination records and prepare periodic reports and MIS on optical sales and quality control.
• Maintain optometry equipment, ensure clinic compliance with authority guidelines and support regulatory audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Optometry.
• Up to 2 years of experience as an Optometrist, preferably in an organised optical retail environment.
• Valid or eligible DHA / DOH / MOH licence, depending on work location.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of refraction, lenses, contact lenses and optical products.
• Customer-focused counselling and communication skills, with a sales orientation.
• Good understanding of optical retail operations and ability to maintain clinical and equipment standards.
