Structural Inspector (Roads / Bridges)

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Structural Inspector for roads and bridges in Dubai. The inspector supervises and inspects the contractor's work on site, checks compliance with contract documents and specifications, and prepares daily reports for the Resident Engineer and the Structural Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Check the contractor's compliance with the contract documents, drawings, specifications and health and safety measures, and liaise daily with the contractor on site resources, health and safety and equipment needs.
• Carry out site supervision and inspections when instructed by the Resident Engineer (RE) or Structural Engineer (SE).
• Maintain records of the contractor's daily human and equipment resources, materials tests, executed works and project milestones.
• Prepare daily reports including works orders, material deliveries and the daily inspection programme, and implement site instructions from the RE and SE.
• Apply site quality control and quality procedures, and audit inspections against contract documents and contractor plans.
• Prepare site measurements and surveying checks for bridge work and other associated structures, and monitor contractor QA/QC activities.
• Monitor the start-up, commissioning and handover of site works, and assist the SE and RE with correspondence and problem resolution.
• Cooperate with the client project manager during site inspections in the presence of the RE or SE.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience on similar projects, with at least 3 years in the UAE (UAE experience is mandatory).
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Relevant experience in comparable structural and roads projects.
• RTA approval is preferred.
