Structure Inspector – Island Infrastructure Project

About the role

The Structure Inspector will lead the inspection and supervision of all structural works on an island infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi. This role ensures that foundations, retaining structures, piers, buildings and related infrastructure are built to the highest quality, safety and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and inspect construction activities related to structural works, including foundations, retaining structures, piers and buildings.
• Monitor contractors’ work to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, codes and relevant standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections, capture photos, measurements and document non‑conformances in detailed reports.
• Verify quality of concrete, steel, masonry and other structural components and witness required testing.
• Check formwork, reinforcement placement, concrete pouring, curing and structural connections for integrity and safety.
• Review and comment on method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs) and quality control procedures submitted by contractors.
• Coordinate with construction supervisors, site engineers and quality teams to resolve technical issues.
• Ensure structural work respects geotechnical constraints, marine/shoreline conditions and environmental protection requirements.
• Monitor progress against the construction programme and flag potential delays.
• Enforce safety standards, participate in toolbox talks and safety audits focused on structural activities.
• Support inspections for handover, snagging and final acceptance of structural elements.
• Maintain organized records of inspections, test results, approvals and as‑built information.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification.
• 5–7 years of experience in structural inspection or construction supervision on infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and construction practices.

Required skills

• Inspection and testing of concrete, steel and masonry components.
• Formwork and reinforcement placement verification.
• Preparation of detailed inspection reports with photos, measurements and non‑conformance documentation.
• Review of method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs) and quality control procedures.
• Knowledge of marine/shoreline construction constraints and environmental protection requirements.
