Student Housing Specialist

About the role

The Student Housing Specialist enhances student life at MBZUAI by fostering leadership, teamwork and community through a range of residential programmes. Reporting to the Student Housing Manager, the role supports the delivery of the student residential experience and co‑supervises the Residential Student Leader programme.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accommodation advisory services to prospective and current students, guiding them on on‑campus and off‑campus housing options, policies and application procedures.
• Support campus housing operations, including policy updates, allocation of rooms, key issuance, check‑in/check‑out processes, inspections, maintenance coordination and security management.
• Deliver on‑campus residential life programmes, mentor residents, co‑supervise Residential Student Leaders, organise events and mediate conflicts.
• Maintain a database of off‑campus housing options, assist students with rental searches and administer financial support for housing deposits.
• Document and report residential service data, inspection findings and incident reports, and analyse student feedback for continuous improvement.
• Contribute to university‑wide initiatives such as orientation, wellbeing programmes and leadership development.

Required profile

• At least four years of progressively responsible experience in hospitality, property or facilities management, with a minimum of two years in university accommodation services.
• Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in residential life services and ability to provide pastoral support and crisis intervention.
• Willingness to reside on campus and flexibility to work irregular hours, including out‑of‑hours on‑call duties.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities to guide Residential Life Assistants and House Captains.
• Familiarity with software systems and database management for residence operations.
