Student Support Assistant – UAE Government Schools

About the role

The Student Support Assistant (SSA) works within government schools across the UAE to provide classroom, behavioural and physical assistance to Students of Determination. You will help create a safe, inclusive environment that enables each student to reach their academic and personal goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt learning materials as needed.
• Guide students through daily classroom activities, transitions, and breaks.
• Support physical mobility, positioning, and use of adaptive equipment.
• Provide personal care such as hygiene and feeding when required.
• Maintain a safe environment by managing physical risks and following behaviour‑management plans.
• De‑escalate challenging behaviours with patience and calm.
• Promote social interaction and peer friendships during school hours.

Required profile

• Minimum high school certificate or higher qualification.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience (e.g., shadow teacher, teaching assistant, caregiver).
• Good verbal and written English communication skills.
• Physically fit to assist with student mobility and safety.
• Patient, caring, empathetic and resilient.
