Student Support Assistant – UAE Government Schools

About the role

The Student Support Assistant (SSA) works within government schools across the UAE to provide classroom, behavioural and physical assistance to Students of Determination. The role ensures a safe, inclusive environment that enables each student to reach their academic and personal goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt learning materials as needed.
• Guide students through daily classroom activities, transitions, and breaks.
• Support physical mobility, positioning, and use of adaptive equipment.
• Provide personal care, hygiene assistance, and feeding support when required.
• Maintain a safe environment by managing physical risks and implementing behavior‑management plans.
• Log student progress, incidents and achievements accurately.

Required profile

• Minimum high school certificate or higher qualification.
• At least 1 year of experience in a related role (e.g., shadow teacher, teaching assistant, caregiver).
• Good verbal and written English communication skills.
• Physically fit to assist with student mobility and safety.
• Patient, caring, empathetic and resilient.
