Superintendent – Health, Safety & Environment (Shipping)

About the role

The Superintendent HSE Shipping will lead health, safety and environmental performance across ADNOC Logistics & Services’ fleet. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures compliance with international maritime regulations and drives continuous improvement of the Safety Management System.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously improve the Safety Management System (SMS) and related procedures.
• Ensure fleet vessels comply with legal and voluntary HSE requirements; monitor corrective actions.
• Lead accident/incident investigations, perform root‑cause analysis and oversee implementation of corrective measures.
• Plan and conduct integrated internal audits for ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 55001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Support preparation of HSE budgets and review marine contracts related to HSEQ activities.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to ship masters and crew on regulatory and voluntary HSE matters.
• Participate in the Incident Management Team and advise on HSE issues.
• Assist with vessel induction, de‑commissioning and annual management reviews of the integrated management system.
• Contribute to recruitment processes and interview candidates when required.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in HSE management within a maritime or shipping environment.
• Strong knowledge of international maritime safety and environmental regulations (ISM, ISPS, MLC) and ISO standards.
• Ability to conduct investigations, root‑cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
• Experience in planning and executing internal audits and managing HSE budgets.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills to support ship personnel.
