Superintendent – Vessel Vetting & Compliance

About the role

The Superintendent – Vetting leads the fleet’s third‑party inspection programme, ensuring health, safety and environmental standards are met across all vessels. This senior position provides guidance, oversight and coordination of vetting, audits and documentation to maintain compliance with industry and company requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily marine operations to achieve 100 % vessel availability and oversee vessel movements.
• Support vessels on cargo safety, navigation and other marine operational matters.
• Conduct pre‑vetting, TMSA and Rightship inspections and identify improvement actions.
• Ensure vessel documentation, certifications and crew competence comply with OCIMF, Rightship, ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and other relevant standards.
• Arrange, oversee and follow up on SIRE, Rightship, ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 55001 and ISO 45001 audits for the entire fleet.
• Upload certificates, documents and reports to the OCIMF database and close identified deficiencies.
• Prepare and manage TMSA audits and maintain the associated database.
• Verify third‑party inspection results, perform root‑cause analysis and disseminate preventive actions.
• Assist the commercial team with vetting and ship clearance prior to fixtures.
• Facilitate communication between the office, third parties, port agents and ship staff on inspection matters.

Required profile

• Proven experience in vessel vetting, marine compliance and audit coordination.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards such as OCIMF, Rightship, ISM, ISPS, MLC and ISO management systems.
• Ability to manage documentation, databases and follow‑up on corrective actions.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills with internal teams and external stakeholders.
