Switchboard Operator

About the role

The Switchboard Operator serves as the first point of contact for all telephone inquiries to the university campus. The role requires a professional, courteous, and cheerful manner while handling internal and external calls, ensuring accurate information is conveyed.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the Cisco telephone system to receive, make, and route local, international, and internal calls.
• Maintain and regularly update the campus telephone directory.
• Record and reconcile faculty/staff international telephone and fax transactions with monthly Etisalat invoices.
• Prepare reports for Finance to charge personal international calls and faxes.
• Answer general queries and pass on messages as needed.
• Initiate emergency calls to appropriate services during campus incidents.
• Prepare internal envelopes for distribution of received faxes.
• Type documents in English or Arabic when required.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Campus Services Director.

Required profile

• Availability to work 12 pm–5 pm, part‑time for a period of 3.5 months.
• Bilingual fluency in Arabic and English.

Required skills

• Cisco telephone system operation.
