Teaching Assistant – Design Workshop Wood Techniques

About the role

The German University in Cairo seeks a motivated Teaching Assistant to support the Design Workshop focused on wood techniques. Working within the Faculty of Applied Science and Arts, you will help students develop practical skills while contributing to the academic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the workshop supervisor in daily management, safety, and resource planning.
• Deliver introductory and advanced wood‑technique courses according to the academic schedule.
• Supervise individual student projects and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Plan workshop investments, oversee material procurement, and maintain equipment.
• Support undergraduate and graduate teaching activities and research initiatives.

Required profile

• Recent graduate with a design‑related bachelor’s degree and hands‑on experience in a specialist craft.
• Motivation to work in an intercultural academic setting and develop a profile at the intersection of digital design, craft, and technology.
• Interest in the training needs of both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Strong communication skills in English, the teaching language.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
