Team Leader - HVAC

About the role

The HVAC Team Leader will head a dedicated team of engineers and technicians responsible for operating, maintaining, and continuously improving HVAC systems that support sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing environments. This position ensures strict environmental control, regulatory compliance, and system reliability across classified cleanrooms and aseptic processing areas.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of the HVAC team, prioritising preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance tasks.
• Maintain temperature, humidity, differential pressure, airflow direction and particle levels in Grade A‑D cleanrooms.
• Oversee performance of Air Handling Units, HEPA filters, Laminar Air Flow units and pressure cascade systems.
• Ensure all HVAC work complies with cGMP, EU GMP Annex 1, FDA 21 CFR and WHO requirements.
• Lead audit readiness and support responses to USFDA, EMA, MHRA and other inspections.
• Monitor Building Management System (BMS) and Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) data, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement CAPA.
• Provide engineering input for new HVAC designs, review P&IDs, layouts, control logic and commissioning documents.
• Develop, review and enforce SOPs, work instructions and maintenance plans, ensuring GMP‑compliant documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience with pharmaceutical HVAC systems and cleanroom environments.
• Proven experience in GMP‑compliant operations, system validation (DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ) and audit support.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and evaluate technical staff.
