Team Leader - Mechanical

About the role

The Mechanical Team Leader will oversee the workshop’s vehicle allocation, repair quality, and technician performance to ensure timely readiness of vehicles. This role combines operational management, customer interaction, and staff development within a fast‑paced automotive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage workshop targets (financial and non‑financial) and explore additional repair opportunities.
• Allocate job orders to technicians based on skill matrix and delivery timelines.
• Supervise and guide repair work, ensuring quality standards and punctuality.
• Act as stand‑in for the Workshop Manager, handling critical customer complaints and high‑profile clients.
• Mentor, coach and provide on‑the‑job training to newly joined team leaders and technicians.
• Maintain workshop cleanliness, conduct post‑service vehicle testing, and verify repair quality.
• Identify required parts, generate system indents and coordinate with the Parts department.
• Collaborate with warranty, insurance and service advisors for approvals and value‑added services.

Required profile

• Proven experience in automotive workshop management or mechanical team leadership.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle repair processes, quality standards and warranty procedures.
• Ability to monitor technician utilization, efficiency and productivity.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Experience in achieving financial targets and managing workshop budgets.
• Leadership qualities to motivate technicians and maintain teamwork.
