Technical Service Specialist

About the role

The Technical Service Specialist will work from Abbott's Core Labs division in Abu Dhabi, providing on‑site support for diagnostic instruments. The role combines installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and customer relationship management to ensure high levels of service satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and troubleshoot Abbott diagnostic instruments across a defined territory.
• Perform emergency repairs, preventive maintenance and engineering updates at customer sites.
• Provide training to customers on instrument operation, software use and part replacement.
• Prioritize service calls, document each visit and manage spare‑parts inventory.
• Achieve assigned service sales targets, sell service agreements and renewals.
• Implement major product upgrades and act as technical coordinator for specific product groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in biomedical instrument service, preferably with Abbott equipment.
• Proven ability to engage with key stakeholders and laboratory staff.
• Strong communication, coaching and training capabilities.
• Track record of meeting service sales targets and delivering customer satisfaction.

Required skills

• Knowledge of biomedical diagnostic instruments and their functionality.
• Troubleshooting of electronic, mechanical and chemical instrument components.
• Use of analytical tools and software for instrument diagnostics.
• Active Sense Technology tools for productivity and spare‑parts utilization.
• Spare‑parts inventory management.
