Third Engineer – Dredging Vessel

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Third Engineer to join the engineering team aboard our dredging vessel. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will support the operation and maintenance of the ship’s main engines and auxiliary systems, ensuring reliable performance in demanding marine environments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief and Second Engineers in daily operation and maintenance of main engines and auxiliary machinery.
• Monitor and record engine performance, fuel consumption, and other critical parameters.
• Conduct regular inspections, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and perform corrective actions.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication management.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment on board.
• Supervise and train junior engineering staff and oversee proper storage and handling of fuel and lubricants.
• Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to optimise engine efficiency and performance.
• Maintain accurate logs and documentation in accordance with company standards.

Required profile

• Valid Certificate of Competency (COC) for 3rd Engineer or higher.
• Extensive experience operating marine engines, preferably on dredgers.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical shipboard systems.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces.
• Up‑to‑date awareness of relevant safety regulations and best practices.
