Trademark Specialist – IP Law

About the role

A Legal team is looking for a skilled, detail-oriented Trademark Specialist with a strong background in intellectual property law, particularly trademark prosecution, enforcement and litigation. The specialist manages trademark portfolios, conducts legal research, advises clients on brand protection and handles trademark disputes.

Key responsibilities

• Trademark prosecution and registration: conduct trademark availability searches and give risk assessments; draft, file and manage applications with authorities such as the USPTO, EUIPO, IP India and WIPO; handle office actions, oppositions and responses to refusals.
• Enforcement and litigation: monitor infringements and take legal action; draft cease-and-desist letters, settlement agreements and legal notices; assist in litigation by preparing pleadings and evidence.
• Brand protection and strategy: advise clients on brand management and protection, develop anti-counterfeiting strategies, and handle domain name disputes and online infringement.
• Legal research and compliance: stay up to date on trademark law and global IP regulations, research and write memoranda, and ensure compliance with international trademark laws and treaties.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in law (LLB or LLM).
• Valid license to practice law.
• At least 5 years of experience practicing trademark law, focused on registration, prosecution, litigation and enforcement.
• Experience drafting, negotiating and enforcing complex legal agreements, including licensing contracts.
• Proven track record managing trademark portfolios and enforcing rights.

Required skills

• Strong legal research, negotiation and drafting skills.
• Experience managing global trademark portfolios and familiarity with international trademark laws and procedures.
• Experience with trademark searches, tools, databases and filing systems.
• Familiarity with emerging IP areas such as domain names and social media trademarks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, independent work and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
