Traffic Safety Engineer (Rail Project)

About the role

The Traffic Safety Site Engineer will plan, implement, monitor and maintain traffic management and safety measures for a major rail construction project. The role ensures safe movement of workers, the public and vehicles in work zones while complying with local regulations, project requirements and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and implement Construction Traffic Management Plans (CTMPs) and approve detailed traffic diversion schemes, detour plans and temporary traffic control layouts.
• Coordinate road closures, lane reductions and traffic switchovers with authorities, ensuring minimal public inconvenience.
• Conduct traffic impact assessments for construction activities affecting existing road networks.
• Carry out traffic‑related risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses, identify hazards and implement mitigation measures.
• Ensure compliance with local traffic regulations, railway safety requirements, project HSE standards and international traffic safety practices.
• Support incident investigations and drive corrective actions as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in traffic engineering, road safety or construction traffic management, preferably on rail, metro, highway or airport projects.
• Experience working in active traffic environments and complex urban settings, with prior GCC or international rail project exposure preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation or Traffic Engineering; professional registration (PE, CEng) is a plus.
