Tunnels Lead – Regional Technical Authority

About the role

WSP is looking for an experienced Tunnels Lead to head the regional tunnelling discipline for its Middle East Transport & Infrastructure team. The role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to deliver complex underground projects across the GCC and wider region.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the regional technical authority for tunnelling, overseeing design and review of TBM, IMT, cut‑and‑cover, shafts and underground stations.
• Lead delivery of complex tunnel projects, managing scope, programme, quality, resources and commercial performance.
• Develop and grow WSP’s tunnelling discipline, mentor engineers, support recruitment and build technical capability.
• Support business development by engaging clients, preparing technical inputs for bids and identifying market opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical or related engineering (Master’s advantageous).
• Minimum 15 + years of experience in tunnel and underground infrastructure engineering.
• Proven track record leading design and delivery of major tunnelling projects in rail, metro, highway or utility sectors.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams on international projects.
• Strong project management, commercial awareness and client‑facing skills.

• Use of tunnel engineering design software and analytical tools.
