UAV Flight Systems & Avionics Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a technically strong, hands‑on UAV Flight Systems & Avionics Engineer to develop, integrate and validate unmanned aerial vehicle systems in an advanced aerospace and defence environment. The role spans hardware, software, simulation and flight‑testing activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and integrate electronic hardware and avionics assemblies for UAVs, including flight‑control computers, sensors and communication interfaces.
• Configure, modify and optimise open‑source autopilot platforms such as PX4 and ArduPilot, and perform firmware deployment and parameter tuning.
• Integrate and calibrate navigation and perception sensors (IMU, GNSS, LiDAR, vision) and manage UART, I2C, SPI, CAN and telemetry links.
• Conduct virtual and hardware‑in‑the‑loop simulations, ground testing and flight trials to validate system performance.
• Investigate and resolve hardware, sensor and flight‑control issues, maintaining technical records and engineering documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Practical experience integrating and troubleshooting UAV electronic hardware, sensors and avionics.
• Familiarity with flight‑control architectures, embedded systems and communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, CAN).
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary R&D environment and follow engineering, safety and quality procedures.

• UAV electronic hardware integration and embedded systems.
• Sensor integration and calibration (IMU, GNSS, LiDAR, vision).
• Communication protocols: UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, telemetry.
• Simulation tools: Software‑in‑the‑Loop (SITL) and Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HITL).
• Flight‑controller configuration, firmware deployment and PID tuning.
