Unit Clerk & Interpreter – Hospital Administrative Support

About the role

The Unit Clerk Interpreter provides essential administrative and clerical support to ensure smooth patient flow within the hospital. This role bridges communication between patients, families, and multiple hospital departments while handling insurance coordination and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and insurance approvals, including pre‑certifications and transfer authorisations.
• Maintain accurate patient charts, consent forms, and legal documentation, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and confidentiality standards.
• Manage newborn registration, liaise with DHA for birth certificates, and generate related financial reports.
• Update room classifications, charges, and patient allocations in the Cerner system, and communicate changes to finance and billing teams.
• Provide Arabic/English translation services, greet visitors, and assist patients with non‑clinical inquiries.
• Support IT and facilities teams by reporting equipment issues and ordering supplies.
• Assist in onboarding and training new staff, and keep the unit informed of policy updates.

Required profile

• High school graduate with excellent English and Arabic verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in customer service or front‑desk environments, with knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to respond to codes and emergencies and to handle confidential information securely.
• Proficiency in using the Cerner hospital information system.
