Utilities Commissioning Superintendent – Offshore Water Injection Project

About the role

The Utilities Commissioning Superintendent will lead commissioning, start‑up, testing and handover of all utility systems for an offshore water injection project based in Abu Dhabi, operating on a 6‑weeks on / 3‑weeks off rotation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and start‑up activities for all utility systems, developing strategies, schedules and work plans.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, construction teams and operations to achieve mechanical completion, ready‑for‑start‑up and handover milestones.
• Direct and supervise commissioning of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, water, fire‑water, drainage, telecommunications and control systems.
• Manage vendor and contractor performance, ensure compliance with warranties and documentation.
• Support integrated start‑up, prepare handover dossiers and ensure operational acceptance.
• Promote safety, quality and compliance with HSE standards, offshore regulations and industry codes.
• Prepare and maintain commissioning reports, KPIs and databases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Process Engineering or related field; professional engineering certification preferred.
• Minimum 18‑22 years of oil & gas experience, including at least 7 years in offshore commissioning and start‑up.
• Proven experience on large EPC offshore projects, especially water injection facilities, with Middle East exposure preferred.

Required skills

• Utility systems commissioning methodologies.
• Mechanical completion and commissioning management software (e.g., ICAPS, WinPCS, COMPLEX, MCPlus, ProCoSys).
• Interpretation of P&IDs, single‑line diagrams, process flow diagrams and system boundaries.
• Knowledge of offshore operations, start‑up processes and safety case requirements.
• Familiarity with industry standards (API, IEC, NFPA, ISO, ISA, DNV).
