Utilities Engineer (RTA / Roads experience)

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Utilities Engineer to supervise and inspect the construction of dry utility networks across Dubai. The role focuses on HV/LV cables, street lighting, telecom infrastructure, ITS and related works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications and authority standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect installation of HV/LV cables, street lighting, telecom (Etisalat/Du) and ITS systems, verifying compliance with RTA, DEWA, Etisalat, Du and DM standards.
• Review and verify excavation, duct laying, backfilling, cable pulling, jointing, termination and chamber installation against project specifications and method statements.
• Inspect trench preparation, bedding and protection layers, coordinating dry and wet utilities to avoid clashes.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and as‑built drawings, monitoring contractor safety and quality procedures.
• Witness and verify inspection requests, ensuring continuity, insulation resistance and functional testing are properly conducted and documented.
• Coordinate with local authorities for inspections, NOCs and approvals, and manage non‑conformances until closure.
• Maintain inspection records, review daily progress reports and participate in coordination meetings to resolve technical issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• 7–12 years of experience in utilities engineering, with a focus on dry utility networks.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience working in the UAE on RTA or DM projects.
