Welder – Steel Fabrication & Rectification

About the role

The Welder will be responsible for welding, grinding and rectifying steel sections in the rectification yard of Emirates Steel Industries. The role involves preparing surfaces, filling deep defects and ensuring finished products meet quality standards set by QC and supervisors.

Key responsibilities

• Weld and grind surfaces to convert material to prime condition according to QC instructions.
• Identify deep defects, fill them by welding and grind to level with surrounding surface.
• Segregate finished products from scrap, stack and strap them as required.
• Coordinate with outsourced contractors and suppliers to resolve issues.
• Prepare and use appropriate PPE, fire extinguishers and tools before each job.
• Assist in cutting, heating, bending, hammering, stencil marking, manual binding and other rectification tasks.

Required profile

• Secondary school education with industrial training.
• Certified welder qualification.
• Minimum 4 years experience as a grinder and welder in steel industries.
• Experience working in a rectification yard of a mill.

Required skills

• Welding (various welding machines).
• Grinding using 4.5" and 7" grinders.
• Gas cutting, burning and heating of steel sections.
• Bending, hammering, stencil marking and manual binding.
• Use of profile cutter, hydraulic jacks, manual Gag and Enerpac equipment.
• Safe handling of tools, PPE and fire safety equipment.
