Welding Supervisor – Offshore Projects

About the role

The Welding Supervisor will lead all welding activities on offshore vessels and job sites, ensuring safety, quality, and timely execution for pipeline projects. Reporting to the field engineer and barge superintendent, the role coordinates personnel, equipment, and consumables throughout mobilization and execution phases.

Key responsibilities

• Identify personnel, equipment, and consumable requirements before offshore mobilization.
• Select and monitor welders for each task, issuing safety gear and controlling its supply.
• Coordinate with welding inspectors, third‑party NDT personnel, clients, and inspection teams.
• Oversee Welding Foremen, pipe‑facing operators, spacers, pipeline welders, and helpers.
• Implement welding and QA/QC procedures, conduct toolbox meetings, and promote safety awareness.
• Track consumption of electrodes and related materials, reporting shortfalls and requesting replenishment.
• Interpret radiography films and ensure compliance with client specifications and welding standards.
• Troubleshoot welding problems to maintain project progress.

Required profile

• Secondary School Certificate with a technical qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Computer literacy and all required offshore safety training.

Required skills

• SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) and FCAW (Flux‑Cored Arc Welding) processes.
• GMAW (pulsed) welding in 5G downhill position.
• Air‑arc gouging and repair welding.
• Pipeline welding techniques.
• Interpretation of radiography films.
• Implementation of QA/QC procedures.
• Coordination with NDT and inspection teams.
