Wet Utilities Design Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Wet Utilities Design Engineer to join its multidisciplinary consultancy team in Abu Dhabi. You will be responsible for the planning and detailed design of potable water, fire‑fighting, irrigation, foul sewer and stormwater networks for infrastructure and land‑development projects across the UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Design wet utility systems including water distribution, irrigation, fire‑fighting, sewerage and stormwater networks, manholes, chambers, pumping stations and storage facilities.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, layouts and schematics using CAD software.
• Develop hydraulic models to analyse and optimise system performance.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments and perform calculations for pipe sizing, flow rates, pressure losses and system capacities.
• Ensure designs comply with Abu Dhabi authority standards, local regulations, codes and standards.
• Collaborate with architects, urban planners and other engineering disciplines to integrate utilities into broader projects.
• Provide technical support during construction, review shop drawings and respond to RFIs.
• Follow company QA/QC procedures, design checklists and document control protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in an engineering consultancy focused on wet utilities/infrastructure design.
• Proven experience on UAE/GCC projects, preferably with direct Abu Dhabi authority exposure.
• Membership or progress toward membership in a professional institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, ASCE) is an advantage.

Required skills

• Hydraulic modelling software such as WaterGEMS (and related sewer modelling tools).
• CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) for preparing engineering drawings.
• Pipe‑sizing calculations, flow analysis and pressure loss assessment.
• Preparation of technical reports, design specifications and bill of quantities (BOQ).
